Weather Rubric
The following Weather rubric identifies characteristics that we consider to be the most significant not just to us, but to professionals. Read carefully. Points are awarded based on which category your work falls under, Unsatisfactory, Proficient and Exemplary. If you find yourself falling short of expectations, then make an opportunity to see us for help.

Weather
(0-6.9)
- Is not prepared. Cannot maintain flow of weather information for the 3 minutes.
- Does not dress appropriately. T-shirts, wears green shades, looks rumpled.
- Can not lighten up when needed.
- Does not understand the balance between giving crucial weather information and keeping conversational.
Proficient Range (7-8.9)
- Is able to get through the 3 minute weather segment smoothly, but is not thoroughly prepared.
- Thorough and prepared but may get lost in the map.
- Relatively comfortable ad-libbing and chatting with anchors.
Exemplary (9-10)
- Must know the state map and so that when referencing regional weather, you are pointing to the correct places.
- Thorough and prepared. Wsrite out a complete script and know it in case the prompter goes down.
- Ad libs and rolls with the punches well. Weather people are known for injecting personality into the forecast as well as informing the audience.
- Keeps any shade of green out of the wardrobe, including teals.
