Reporter-Sports Position
Sports packages should tell a compelling story, not just highlight what happened at a game. A story can even be a profile about a player. A good story is one that generates audience empathy for a character. In other words, make us care!
90 percent of the footage must be shot by the reporter.

In sports, the story may be a preview or wrap-up of a game, but should make use of game footage shot mostly by the reporter/photographer, and include player interviews, etc. The sports package runs approximately 1:30-1:50. A creative, bridge stand-up is mandatory. Must be edited and ready for air by 8:00 am the day of the newscast.
