Doing Stand-ups

Same-Day Reporter -  Responsible for producing a package that appears in the newscast as a Look Live (LLPKG). The reporter is teamed with a photographer to shoot and edit the story the morning of the newscast. Same Day Reporters could also do a SKYPE or LIVESTREAM appearance on the newscast.

Same-Day Photographer/Editor - The photographer will also edit the LLPKG and is responsible for assisting with SKYPE or LIVESTREAM  stories during the newscast if needed.

Sports Anchor/Producer - Responsible for sports rundown, writing, producing and delivering a sportscast (pre-produce as much as possible). The sports anchor also edits their own highlights, or they can assign their AP to help.  The sports segment must include some original material – either a PKG from a sports reporter or a VO, VO/SOT that you shoot on your own.  The more you cover local sports, the better the sportscast and the stronger your skills.  A rough rundown is emailed to the professor and approved the night before the newscast. The more video in the sportscast the better!  You can use the CNN feed for video and/or raw game footage, which you can acquire from other sources as long as there is a courtesy font given to it onscreen.

Anchor - The on-air talent for the live half-hour newscast and our primary writing staff. In addition to writing any stories that are assigned to you, you should also write to any accompanying video, and finally make time to practice reading scripts as often as possible before air.

Weather Reporter - Responsible for producing and anchoring a live weather report during the newscast. The weather reporter also prepares graphics that will appear in place of the studio's green screen.
