Getting Ready to Record
Turning the Camera On/Off
NOTE: Insert the SD card and make sure that it’s formatted to the camera. Click here to learn more about SD Card Formatting. Also, don't forget to open the lens barrier cover before you start recording.
Press the START/STOP button to begin recording. There are three of these buttons on the camera: a START/STOP button on the grip, on the handle and at the front of the camera.
NOTE: The START/STOP button on the handle has a lock lever to prevent accidental recording.
NOTE: The START/STOP button on the handle has a lock lever to prevent accidental recording.
Whilst the camera is recording, front and rear tally lights will illuminate.
To stop the recording, press the START/STOP button again.
BEST PRACTICE FOR RECORDING VIDEO: Use a tripod to get rock steady shots. Focus on the subject and compose the shot and then start recording. Step back from the camera so you don’t bump it and count to 10. Then stop the camera, find another shot and repeat.
Using the OLED Panel
OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode in which the electroluminescent layer is a film of organic compound that emits light in response to an electric current.
You can rotate the OLED Panel 90 degrees downward or 180 degrees toward the lens. Turning the OLED Panel towards the lens is useful when a reporter is shooting stand-ups on their own.
CAUTION – before transporting the camera or when returning it to the camera bag, the OLED Panel must be closed.
Saving Battery Power
Located above the OLED Panel compartment, press and hold the POWER SAVE button for at least 1 second to turn off the OLED Panel and save battery charge. Press the button again to immediately return to record pause mode.
Viewfinder (Eyepiece)
The Viewfinder angle can be adjusted as necessary. There are certain advantages to using the Viewfinder rather than the OLED screen. For example, it’s easier to get sharper focus of the lens using the Viewfinder. But before you can focus the lens you need to focus your eye to the Viewfinder.
Adjusting the Viewfinder to your eyesight
Power up the camera
Adjust the dioptric adjustment lever, located on the underside of the Viewfinder, until the data code in the Viewfinder looks sharp.
Then adjust the lens focus.
